A glimmer

Thanks to everyone for the love and support today--phone calls, prayers, thoughts, anything. It has been a rough one, for all of us. And thanks to all who read my ramblings about Dad...I'm glad it's helpful.

All our family is here at the hospital--Andrea, Rachel, Ben, and me--with spouses (except Chris, who was deployed on the 9th--we miss you!!!).

Although Dad actually looks worse today than yesterday, I feel hopeful still--more so than I did this morning.

He's very jaundice-looking today. And although it's dier conditions, he IS'NT on any life support, he's living all by himself. Very greatfully it isn't time to decide if we need to let him go...we still tell him we love him and want him here. He has emptied a liter of fluids today, which is more than yesterday. He has also been relieving gas too, hopefully from his abdomen.

They told us they're not worried about him eating yet. They don't want him to eat until he is not disoriented.

We were all there when they started today's 24 hour round of chemo, he slept peacefully through it.

It's all just waiting now. Comparing yesterday with today and waiting some more.

Rachel was just leaving and related this:
About a month ago Dad was telling her the tree out by their garage needed to be watered, even in the winter. He was detailed and went on about it (sounds like Dad) and told her to even catch water from the shower to put on it. She just told him that she watered the tree and he laughed, just a little chuckle.
There is life still, and it's Dad.

Mom received a blessing this afternoon that gave us all hope, faith and courage.

I'll be making a poster for Dad with all the love people have expressed, so when he's awake he'll know about and recieve all of it.

Again, feel free to call me if you want or need to--especially if you have questions that I haven't answered here. If you'd like an address to send a card to, let me know. My email address is: jandjrandall@gmail.com

We love and appreciate you all.
