Update for the morning surgery

Dad had the liver biopsy done this morning. He is out of surgery and doing as good as can be expected with a failing liver and post surgery pain. Results from the biopsy are due back today at 4:00 and will tell us one of three things: 1. leukemia in the liver 2. infection in the liver 3. nothing wrong with the liver. If he has leukemia or nothing wrong with his liver then chemo will be started today. If he has an infection, it will be treated and then chemo will be started when the infection is gone. The doctors say people usually feel better when chemo is started. Dad had a painful night (reported by Mom who stayed up with him all night) and we are hoping he will experience some sort of relief soon. Dad has not been very alert but we hug him and love on him and make sure the nurses take excellent care of him. I'm sure you would all like to know that Dad stays polite and proper even when he feels like crap. It amazes me that he will smile and respond and even say thank you sometimes. He is a good person. I do print out all of your comments and Dad will enjoy them when he is in a better state of mind and body. Much love to all of you.
