Andrea called Mom. She said, "The doctors came in and said they didn't know if he was going to make it because his liver is failing."
I don't know what else to write. I'm going to the hospital right now.
Prayers and hope today.
We just had a family meeting with the doctors.
They want us all to understand that this isn't the end, they feel like it is definitely still worth it to continue with the treatment. They just also needed us to know that his liver is not getting better, which is what they were hoping for, and expecting by this point.
He came in with typical issues related to MDS, but usually the liver is not as effected...or if it is, the initial treatments they did should have helped. The did not; they ordered more tests; the liver got worse very rapidly.
There aren't any percentages of success or many, if any cases to compare it to, this is all very unusual. They said Dad isn't in any pain, relatively, and that this type of liver problem doesn't cause pain now or later.
There are other issues the doctors are watching, but the focus is on the liver right now...even more so than the Leukemia itself.

We are wishing all of you the best through this extremely hard trial. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we know that the Lord is watching out for all of you. Bro. Black is such a wonderful man and friend to all! We have missed seeing him at church the past few weeks. It doesn't seem right without him and Jeri there. Hurry back to us! We love you!
ReplyDeleteThankyou for keeping this blog. We love both your Mom and Dad and have enjoyed working with them in church callings. We have been worried, and very thankful to read your blog, and not have to keep pestering the family. Please tell him he is in our prayers, and all your family too. Love, Lynn and Carolyn Walker
